About Savvy Cinema

Savvy Cinema was founded in 2004 by Melbourne based filmmaker Tom Davies. Since its conception the company has produced a series of both short films and corporate videos with a wide client base, from Brian James’ Guide to Getting Free Publicity, to filming the launch of fashion label Snikity at Melbourne Spring Fashion Week.

In the past few years Tom has produced four shorts through the company, Chill In The Air, 1 in 5, 72 Virgins, and The End? , he has also teamed with directing duo Joel Kohn and Ben Esler; as Editor for their short film Cheeses of Nazareth and in 2007 as Associate Producer for the kids TV Pilot Gravediggers.

About Tom Davies

Tom Davies is an independent filmmaker with an honours degree in Creative Arts from the University of Melbourne. He founded his own production company, Savvy Cinema in 2004, and has directed and produced four shorts, one of which screened at the Short Film Corner at the Cannes Film Festival in 2008.

In September 2007 he moved to Los Angeles to study abroad at the University of California, Irvine. While overseas he interned at Mandate Pictures in Beverley Hills, the production company behind such films as Juno and Stranger than Fiction. He was also selected to participate in a student program at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival, organised by The American Pavilion.

Most recently Tom has been working freelance as a Production Manager, Coordinator and Runner on a variety of TV Commercials, TV Shows, Feature Films and Corporate Videos.
